September 2011
One new painting making its way toward completion this summer, although I have managed to do quite a bit of sketchbook work in preparation for new paintings in the fall. Allegory XVII-in progress
On the mural front it has been a pretty uneventful summer so far, with mural repair work in Paducah (http://www.westkentuckystar.com/News/Archive?NodeID=36652), and Maysville, Kentucky( http://www.maysville-online.com/news/article_3cb8c408-cd07-11e0-b201-001cc4c002e0.html)(http://weku.fm/post/riverfront-murals-have-face-lift), and even a few days helping out the Dafford Murals crew repaint some older murals in Portsmouth, Ohio. Another month on the road and then it will be time to return to Louisiana and back into the studio! I have a whole list of new paintings to begin, so keep and eye out for the new stuff on the way.

March 2011
Its been a very busy winter and spring so far. I spent alot of time helping someone else with one of their jobs, and didn't get to spend as much time in the studio as I'd planned for this year. I will be spending the next month or two in the studio though, with a series of new paintings, the first here being "Les Mardi Gras, ça vient de tout partout". 30" x 40", oil on canvas, 2011. It is the biggest and most detailed of my courir paintings so far, but several others are already in the planning phase.

We had two Mardi Gras' this year, and it was the best ever! I went to do the Courir de Mardi Gras in Savoy again this year, and got great reference for future work. And then four days later, did it again when the HBO series "Treme" used us as extras to film a Courir de Mardi Gras themed episode with Steve Earle. With the two events, I was able to get a lot of great reference shots this year, including one I've been waiting for, drunk courirs standing on their horses. Great new paintings to come soon!!!!
