I've finally returned to Lafayette and my studio after being on the road nearly the whole summer in Portsmouth, Ohio and Paducah, Ky. As much as I love seeing everyone on the road, it sure feels good to be back home. I completed a few new paintings, including 2 new Courir de Mardi Gras pieces, and have finished my portrait of Aaron Roe. We'll be having an ArtWalk here at the Warehouse on Garfield in the next several weeks.

The show at the A. I. R. Studio here in Paducah, was a success, or at least I sold a painting, "Allegory XIV-Dr. Faustus contemplates his mortality". I had several new drawings up for the show, which I've now added to the Illustrations gallery. The floodwall mural repair work is nearly completed here in Paducah, and I'm looking forward to being home in Lafayette in several weeks.

A student exhibition opened July 16 at Arkansas State University Museum in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  entitled “Portals of the Soul : Ancient peoples of Northeast Arkansas”, the exhibition was developed by the students and curated by Dr. Marti Allen for the Spring 2009 exhibition seminar. If you click on the different images, you can see examples of my work. In the first image (left hand side) are my illustrations of the Pacaha and Casqui provinces of the de Soto narratives. Also visible to the far left is a screen playing my animation of 5 Mississippian sites. In the second image is my illustration of a Mississippian era priest (top) and a shaman (bottom). In the third image are graphics I did to highlight symbolic motifs found on shell engravings. The fourth, fifth and sixth images are stepped back views of the exhibition.
